2026 Book #19: The Pearl Sister

Book: The Pearl Sister Sister
Author: Lucinda Riley
Rating:  🌟🌟🌟🌟

CeCe, like all of her sisters, struggles after her adoptive father – Pa Salt – dies.

The clues he leaves her take her across the globe to Australia, and to a bloodline that starts with Kitty McBride, the daughter of a Scottish clergyman.

Through her travels she will learn to exist away from her sister Star, and to discover who she is as an artist.

Has CeCe finally found home?

I’ve come to the conclusion that if we cut 70% of the romance of these books, they would move much faster. The histories are interesting but the melodrama and dialogue are a struggle at times.

I actually did find myself rooting for CeCe though I could not stand her in the earlier books.

However, there are a lot of pages filled with people feeling things and I wish there were less.

It might even make the romance more palatable.

That said, CeCe’s character growth was the most compelling of all the sisters so far, and my rating is largely for this reason.

Taking a break from the series to read something else before #5.
